What were they thinking? Analyzing the Fall Palace Drop

Palace's recent drop; Flop or Cop?

In this weeks instalment, we will be breaking down the Palace x Reebok collab drop between the two clothing brands.

Compared to previous weeks, this line falls short.

This weeks drop saw Palace collaborating with Reebok in their latest effort in adding to their elaborate clothing line. Palace's first mistake in this drop was exclusively releasing items with Reebok as these two brands come from two widely different sectors of the fashion market. Palace is primarily associated as an expensive "hype" brand and Reebok is mostly associated with low to mid tier running equipment. Just by glancing at the shoes that they are planning on releasing, it's clear that it is a very basic shoe which too similar to regular Reebok shoes which aren't viewed as favourably by Palace fans. As the majority of people who plan on getting these clothes are Palace fans, it is unfortunate to see the brand abandon them in an attempt to pay homage to Reeboks classic unappealing shoe style.

The Pants

The sweatpants that dropped were one of the few nice items that were released this past week from the collection. Although this particular article of clothing wont have a high resell value, it is still a good purchase seeing as it is a simple yet stylish option highlighting the crisp reebok logo. Lighter colour sweatpants tend to pair better with most outfits as it allows for a more darker shoe to be styled with it. This is one of the reasons why we recommend this cheap option to spice up your ever expanding growing wardrobe.

The Shirt

This T-shirt is definitely the most hyped article of clothing coming out this weeks drop and its for good reason.

The Simple Design.

The plain white T-shirt is one of the best colour-ways to have on a shirt especially in the summer months. What makes this stand out amongst the rest is without a doubt the clear Palace brand name above the reebok sign. The resell value of this item should be amongst the highest seeing as the logo is nicely placed and due to the low volume available. The way that the logo sits beautifully on top of one another also further exemplifies the clean aesthetic of the piece which makes it one of the most liked items in the drop.

The Shoes

Of all the items that were released this week, the black shoe was the most disliked of all and its quite clear to see why. The shoes are very shiny and boxy, which gives them a less desirable aspect when styling this piece with any outfit. The buttons on the side also make the shoe look less appealing and more like a toy. Although the shoe does display the original Palace logo, it is still not enough to make this shoe worth purchasing. Simply put, we would strongly encourage you all to not go near this shoe as not only would you be wasting your money but you would look foolish in every step you take.

The Jeans

Of all the items that Palace dropped, the jeans are the one that embodies it as a whole; it's messy. The design of the jeans is very lacklustre and it comes with a high price tag without taking into consideration the resell value. The jean cuffs are far too large for todays style as they are opposite to the tight rolled up cuffs that the majority of trendsetters look for in jeans. Overall, at the end of the day, jeans are jeans and are usually not worth purchasing from designer brands like palace and this is no exception.

Overall Drop Grade

After carefully analyzing the numerous articles of clothing from this drop we will now give it a grade to determine how good the drop was as a whole.

As with most drops, there will always be a few items that exceed expectations and some that fall short. In this weeks latest collaboration with Reebok, Palace was forced to cater to a more inexpensive audience which resulted in a disappointing line of clothing. The shoes were astonishingly bad even for Reeboks standard.

Even with Palaces logo on the shoe, it simply wasn't enough to make them cool. Another upsetting part of the drop was the jeans and the jean jacket. As both are coming at a relatively high price point thanks to Palaces brand name, it simply didn't add enough eye catching additions to justify not purchasing a very similar looking one from H&M at a much cheaper price. The T-Shirt and sweatpants were nice additions to the drop as they added a much needed casual yet comfy element while still maintaining a simply and elegant look. When looking at other previous weeks drop it is clear that this one falls short in a multitude of factors as the designs are far too simple for standard Palace gear. Overall, our experts reviewed this drop and came to an average score of 6.3. This score was reached as Cody gave it a 7/10 rating, Ben gave it a 6/10 rating along with Alex.
