Athleisure – What is it

If one thing over the past few years has been consistent, it would be the growing popularity of athleisure, popularized by athletes and celebrities alike and adopted by pretty much anyone and everyone. So, what exactly is “athleisure”? Well, it’s the combination of the functionality of sportswear with everyday casual wear, which is a fancy way of saying that it’s your gym clothes that you wear everywhere else as well.

It’s pretty simple, now more than ever, people are going to the gyms and focusing on both their physical and mental health. Combined with being highly promoted on social media, consumers are exposed more than ever to the presence of athleisure, and its importance within their closets.

As athleisure has become more popular, athleisure has also become more accepted everywhere, especially at work. With this, fashion brands are shifting to produce more leisure clothing – fueling competition, innovation, and overall growth within the market.

Athleisure helps people simplify their wardrobes - with fewer, more versatile pieces of wardrobe instead of separate pieces of clothing for the gym and then casual occasions.

From my experience, athleisure makes me feel more confident than ever. Similar to the feeling many of you get when hitting a PR at the gym, athleisure gives that sense of confidence and self-worth that many people desire, including me. Similarly, athleisure requires little to no effort, thus making me feel relaxed throughout the whole process of getting my outfit ready.

3. Adidas: A true classic, you can’t really go wrong with some pieces from adidas. My personal favourites are Adidas hoodies and their sweatpants, truly iconic! Great for working out or going to the movies.
